The Atlantic Seaboard is as exposed as Cape Town gets, with direct salt spray, hard ultraviolet and the full force of the south-easter funnelling off the mountain. It's also where the view is everything, so an outdoor structure has to disappear into the architecture while standing up to the worst the coast throws at it.

Wind behaves differently on this side of the mountain. Camps Bay and Clifton sit out of the worst of the south-easter but take winter north-westers straight off the sea, while Sea Point catches both. We size each structure for the real exposure of its street, and where posts would interrupt a sea view we build cantilevered, as we did on Victoria Road in Camps Bay.
