A louvre roof is an aluminium roof made of rotating blades. You open them for sky and ventilation, and close them for shade or cover. It's the most flexible cover you can buy: one structure that adapts to the weather through the day.
A pergola is a fixed-roof structure. We build two kinds: an aluminium extruded pergola with a permanent roof, either fixed multiwall polycarbonate (fully weatherproof, filtered light) or retractable shade fabric, and a composite pergola that brings the warmth and grain of timber with none of the sanding, sealing or rot. A pergola is about a permanent, defined outdoor room rather than something you adjust.
Choose a louvre roof if you want one space that works as open patio on a still day and full cover when the south-easter turns, and you like the idea of automation and sensors. Choose a pergola if you want a permanent, defined outdoor room: a polycarbonate-roofed extruded pergola for guaranteed dry cover and bright light, or a composite pergola for timber warmth without the upkeep. Many homes combine the two, a louvre roof over the main entertainment zone and a composite pergola over a walkway or poolside lounge.
