Multi-bay louvre cover over a hospitality terrace.

The brief

A multi-bay commercial louvre cover spanning a restaurant's outdoor seating terrace. Roadside frontage with the louvre cover providing all-weather service capacity while the closed-louvre underside accepts client-supplied pendant lighting and suspended planters as part of the venue's interior styling.

The build

Matte black powder-coated aluminium frame with white baked-enamel louvre blades. Multi-bay layout running the full length of the terrace, with vertical posts at the street-side perimeter to keep the front edge column-free as much as possible. Commercial-grade build: hospitality-rated wind load specification, IP65 motor housings where applicable, concealed cable trays in the perimeter beams to carry the pendant lighting feeds. Wooden slatted screening at the street edge was integrated as part of the install scope.

The result

The cover converts a seasonal outdoor terrace into a year-round revenue area without losing the open feel that the venue's brand depends on. Pendants and plants suspended from the louvre frame anchor the interior styling under cover.

A louvre spec written for restaurant service

A commercial terrace changes the maths on every line of the spec. A fixed roof would have cost less, but it turns the venue's best asset, its open-air seating, into an ordinary room. Louvres let the restaurant sell sky on good days and keep tables trading through rain, and that flexibility is the whole business case for covering the terrace.

So the build runs heavier than a residential job. Wind loading is rated for hospitality use, motor housings are IP65, and the perimeter beams carry concealed cable trays so the venue's pendant lights hang from the frame without a visible wire. Posts along the street edge were kept to the minimum the spans allowed, and the matte black frame holds its own on a roadside frontage.
