The brief

This Parow home wanted the convenience of a motorised louvre roof that opens and closes the blades at the touch of a button, with no winding by hand.

The build

A motorised aluminium louvre system with a charcoal powder-coated frame and white blades. A quiet motor tilts and closes the blades on demand, with an integrated gutter system and concealed wiring, all built in marine-grade aluminium.

The result

One button opens the roof for sun and airflow or closes it against rain and wind. Full control over the space, in the clean charcoal-and-white finish the owner wanted.

The brief started with operation, not colour. No winding by hand, ever: blades that tilt and close at the touch of a button. That ruled out the cheaper manual option on day one, and it changed the build, because a motor means wiring planned into the frame and concealed from the start rather than run along it afterwards.

The rest is the spec we build to anyway. Marine-grade aluminium even this far from the beach, an integrated gutter so closed blades drain properly, and the clean charcoal-and-white finish the owner asked for. The motor itself is a quiet one, which counts for more than you'd expect once the roof is over a table where people sit and talk.
