This Durbanville home wanted a softer, more neutral finish than the usual charcoal or white, a louvre roof that would sit quietly against the house.
A full dove-grey aluminium louvre awning, frame and blades in a single muted grey tone. Adjustable blades, integrated gutter, and the wind-load engineering the Northern Suburbs ridge calls for.
The dove-grey finish reads calm and architectural, and the adjustable blades give the family shade, ventilation and full rain cover across the seasons.
Most louvre roofs we fit are charcoal or white, and this client wanted neither. Dove grey was the answer, and running it across the frame and the blades in one tone was the part that mattered. Two-tone systems draw the eye to the structure; a single colour lets the roof sit against the house as one quiet element.
Durbanville's position on the Northern Suburbs ridge meant the engineering couldn't be soft, whatever colour the roof ended up. The structure is sized for the wind loads the ridge takes, and the gutter is built into the frame itself, so rain coming off the closed blades is carried away without bolt-on guttering spoiling the line.
