The brief

An exposed West Coast property needed an outdoor cover that could open to the sun on calm days and seal against the wind when it turns, with no material that would corrode in the salt air.

The build

An adjustable aluminium louvre roof in a charcoal powder-coated frame with white blades. The blades rotate from fully open for light and airflow to fully closed for shade and weather cover, with an integrated gutter system draining any run-off.

The result

Open, the patio stays bright and ventilated; closed, it's a sealed, near-watertight room. Marine-grade aluminium throughout means zero corrosion on the West Coast.

Sealed against the West Coast blow

On this stretch of coast the question isn't if the wind comes, it's when. So the roof was specced to work at both extremes: blades fully open on calm days so the patio gets sun and airflow, fully closed and near-watertight when the weather turns. The integrated gutter carries the run-off away rather than sheeting it over the edges.

Salt was the other half of the brief. Nothing in this build corrodes: no steel, marine-grade aluminium in every member, a charcoal powder-coated frame under white blades. So there's nothing to repaint and nothing to rust, which on this coastline is the whole game. The white blades also keep the closed roof bright underneath instead of cave-dark.
