The brief

A Vermont home on the Whale Coast wanted an all-white louvre system with the convenience of motorised control. The blades open and close at the touch of a button against the coastal wind.

The build

A full-white aluminium louvre system, white frame and white blades, driven by a quiet motor, with an integrated gutter system and concealed wiring. Built to marine-grade specification for the salt air of the Whale Coast.

The result

One button opens the roof for sun and sea breeze or closes it tight against wind and rain, giving a bright, low-maintenance outdoor room that holds up to front-line coastal conditions.

Motorised for the Vermont sea wind

Weather on the Whale Coast changes its mind quickly, and that's the real argument for motorising a louvre roof here. When the wind picks up off the sea, one button closes the blades before anyone has fetched a winding rod. The motor itself is quiet, and the wiring is concealed inside the structure, so nothing about the automation shows.

Salt air was the other half of the specification. Vermont sits right on the water, so the system is built to marine grade throughout, with the gutter integrated into the frame to take rain off the closed blades. The all-white finish holds its own in coastal light and keeps the space under the roof bright, and unlike steel there's nothing in the structure for the sea air to rust.
