The brief

A Bellville home wanted a clean, low-maintenance cover over the paved patio and side of the house, something to keep the area usable through summer sun and winter rain, and sit quietly against the white walls rather than stand out.

The build

An aluminium louvre awning finished entirely in white, with a white powder-coated frame and white blades, wall-attached to the house and carried on slim posts over the paving. The rotating blades open for light and air or close to shed rain, and everything is built in marine-grade aluminium so it never rusts or needs repainting.

The result

A bright, tidy outdoor space that looks built-in. Open, the blades let the sun through; closed, they keep the patio dry. The all-white finish blends into the home, and with no steel and no timber there is nothing to maintain, just an awning that works.

White on white in Bellville

The house is white, the client wanted the awning to disappear into it, and full white was the only honest way to do that. Frame and blades in the same finish, fixed back to the wall along the house and carried over the paving on slim posts, so the cover runs down the side of the home without reading as an add-on.

Fitting posts on existing paving is routine work but worth doing neatly, and slim aluminium sections keep the footprint on the paving small. The blades do the rest of the job through the year: rotated open they pull light and air across the patio in summer, and closed they shed Bellville's winter rain off the top. Marine-grade aluminium means the white stays white without repainting.
