The brief

A Table View home wanted a clean, low-maintenance cover over the patio, adjustable enough to open for sun and close when the weather turns, and finished to sit with the house rather than stand out.

The build

An aluminium louvre roof finished with a bronze frame and white blades, wall-attached and carried on slim aluminium posts over the patio. Motorised, sensor-ready rotating blades open for light and air, or angle and close to shed rain. Everything is built in marine-grade aluminium with coastal-grade fixings for the sea air.

The result

A bright, sheltered space that looks built-in. Open, the blades let the sun through; closed, they keep the patio dry. With no steel and no timber there's nothing to maintain, just a cover that works right through the Cape's seasons.

Sensor-ready motors for Table View wind

Table View weather does not ask permission. The southeaster gets up in minutes and squalls come straight off the bay, which is why this roof is motorised rather than manual. One press and the blades close, no going out with a handle in the rain, and because the system is sensor-ready it can be set up to shut itself when weather arrives with nobody home.

Bronze is a change from the usual charcoal here, warm against the walls without shouting, and the white blades keep the covered patio bright under the big West Coast sky. Marine-grade aluminium and coastal-grade fixings deal with the salt that hangs in the air in a suburb this close to the sea.
